I arrived at night in Singapore of December 2008, so what I was only able to do was eat at the airport and settle in to my friend's condominium unit.

On the first day, my first destination was the Vivo City, a big mall that has wading pools on the top floor.

No, scrap that, it's not a big mall, IT IS Singapore's largest retail and lifestyle destination

I ate at the Food Republic, their version of a food court, which offers a lot of Asian and oriental cuisines

I ordered from the Java Kitchen. For 6 to 7 SGD, the food tasted good and the serving was big.

Ayam Kobek with Rice - 7 SGD
Javanese Fried Chicken with tofu and tempeh
Tempeh is a traditional soy product originally from Indonesia.

Mini Tumpeng (Nasi Kuning) - 6.50 SGD
Pandan rice meal with honey-glazed tempeh, chicken rendang and assorted vegetables

Rendang is a spicy meat dish which originated from the Minangkabau ethnic group of Indonesia,[1] and is now commonly served across the country.[2] One of the characteristic foods of Minangkabau culture, it is served at ceremonial occasions and to honour guests.[3] Rendang is also served among the Malay community in Malaysia, and is also in Singapore and Brunei. Rendang is traditionally prepared by the Minangkabau community during festive occasions such as traditional ceremonies, wedding feasts, and Hari Raya (Eid al-Fitr). Culinary experts often describe rendang as: 'West Sumatran caramelized beef curry'.[1][4] In 2011 an online poll by 35,000 people held by CNN International chose Rendang as the number one dish of their 'World’s 50 Most Delicious Foods (Readers' Pick)' list. From afar, you can see the monorail that connects Vivo City and Sentosa

The Vivo City is connected by monorails to Sentosa.
