Back in Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam today, but Saigon (as in Miss Saigon) was the capital of the French Colony in Vietnam during the Vietnam War (1955-1975).
Saigon is the former name of Ho Chi Minh City, before it merged with neighboring Gah Dinh Province in 1976. It is also the most populated metropolitan area in Vietnam, and also the country's largest city.
Here are a few photos of Ho Chi Minh City.

On my first day back here, I did what a (returning) tourist would do (click on links to view separate posts).
1. Ate Asian food at Ramen Dining, Ramen and Hotpot, right beside Saigon Square.
2. Go to Saigon Square for shopping, at the corner of Nam Kỳ Khởi and Le Loi in District 1.
3. Have Vietnamese coffee at Highlands Coffee, right in front of Ramen Dining.
4. Check out a local arts supply store -- Van Phong Pham Photocopy
5. Have dinner at Pho 2000, a popular but affordable diner at 1-3 D Phan Chu Trinh, right above The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, beside the Saigon Night Market.
6. Have another Vietnamese coffee at Phuc Long coffee shop, a relatively-new coffee shop sprouting in Vietnam
My sister was generous, so she checked me in (as a treat, for free! Yes, life!) at The Golden Rose Hotel.
