Croft Bulk Foods, A Zero-Waste Store in Davao City
One night in Davao, we went to The Vegan Dinosaur for dinner. It is located at Ruby Street in Poblacion District, and I noticed some signage that says "Croft Bulk Foods". I got curious but not curious enough to read the fine print.
After dining, just outside almost fronting The Vegan Dinosaur was the actual store of Croft Bulk Foods. We went inside and I was pleasantly surprised -- it is a zero-waste store carrying grains like rice and wheats, nuts and legumes -- like almonds, peanuts, and others even labeled "keto", dried fruits, condiments and toiletries.
Prices are written on containers per gram. The only packaging that are available are canvass bags, small jars with lids and brown paper bags, so make sure to bring your own container -- since this is the main concept behind zero-waste stores - no wastage, especially in packaging.
And also since this store is made by the people behind The Vegan Dinosaur, their products are plant-based and cruelty-free! Way to go, right?
