7107 International Music Festival - A Quick Warning
I would have waited until after today before I post anything about the 7107 International Music Festival being held at the Global Gateway Logistics City (GGLC) in Clark, but I just can't wait.
Here's a bullet-point list about yesterday.
• There are several signage leading to the venue saying "7107IMF THIS WAY (arrow)" but if you're not attentive enough, you might miss them. They are only about 2x1 feet in size. So for people who are just on their way to GGLC, keep your eyes open.
• The venue is made up of dirt road, some grass, and sun. And the place is HUGE! So bring your sunscreen, hat/cap, arm warmers, umbrellas, and if you do not want your feet to be dirty, wear shoes. Because you will be walking a lot.
• There are two entrances -- one for VIP and one for General Admissions -- which they do not say. We originally went to the Gen Ad entrance but was told that we could not bring water inside so we had to go back to the car to leave our tumblers. (I have another story about the water later.) Then came back and had our bag inspected at the other entrance, which was the VIP entrance. After inspection, our wristbands were swiped only to find out that we were not allowed to enter that gate because we have the Gen Ad pass.
Oh my God! I told you that the place is HUGE, right? You will have to walk a couple of meters to go back to the Gen Ad gate, under the sun! So I said "But you don't have a signage that says this is the VIP entrance! We were already at the Gen Ad gate but had to go back because we're not allowed to bring water in! Which, by the way, the Ticket Pick Up Booth said we could!" (In Filipino, of course!) I was really nearly losing my temper because an international event as big as this should be organised! The local UP Fair is far more organised!
To know, the VIP entrance is much smaller than the Gen Ad entrance.
• Water. Some websites, including the official 7107 IMF Facebook Page, said that guests can bring empty water bottles to the venue. So we did. We thought there's a free water refilling station.
We went to the Ticket Pick Up Booth to pick up a friend's ticket and even asked to confirm if we could bring water in. They said yes. So we did. But when already in the gate, we were asked to leave our tumblers behind! GRRR! Water is sold inside at 80 Php a bottle. Beer is at 120 Php a can. Pricey, right?
• In the Ticket Pick Up Booth, a guest asked "is this the only registration booth?" and the ticketing person said "yeah, I think so..." She thinks so? She thinks so?!?! Seriously? SHE SHOULD KNOW!
I'm not being a BV here and nitpicking on the event. But they have to seriously make this all worth it. Cheapest ticket is 8,500 Php. It is not too much to demand for an organised event, right? I'm not even asking for fireworks, or free water. I'm just asking for what is due of an event this big.
Anyway, there's a great line up, so come one and all, just be prepared of all this misguided organisation.
